The lovers' district
Its proximity to the Eiffel Tower makes the district a very romantic location. Couples like to walk in the Trocadéro gardens or on the Champs de Mars. The many river boats on the right bank of the Seine offer romantic trips or sunset dinners on board. The Pont Bir-Hakeim, a bridge that is famous for its modern architecture, has been the site of several film sets, including the series Dexter, the movie National Treasure - Book of Secrets, and, more recently, Inception.
A green and steel landscape
The Pont Bir-Hakeim, with its metallic structure, features two levels: one for cars and pedestrians above, and a viaduct for the metro below. A bike path has also been added to the pedestrian walkway. The bridge is a popular spot to watch the July 14th fireworks in front of the Eiffel Tower. In the middle of the bridge, stairs lead down to the Île aux Cygnes, a charming artificial island filled with greenery. Stretching over half a mile long and 36 feet wide, it offers a scenic, tree-lined promenade.
An open air station
The Bir-Hakeim district is served by an overground station by the same name through which metro line 6 runs. This is the closest station to the Eiffel Tower. As it is both a business district and a residential district, you will easily find local businesses (grocery stores, bakeries, convenience stores, etc.) and restaurants.
