A family-oriented district

Unlike other more exclusive areas of the arrondissement, the area is mainly residential and family-oriented and has two reputable colleges. In the 1920s the Porte de Saint-Cloud district experienced extensive growth, leading to architectural restructuring. On Place de la Porte de Saint-Cloud, there are two fountains, illuminated at night, dating back to 1930. The construction of the Eglise Sainte-Jeanne-de-Chantal began, for example, in 1932. Unfortunately, the area, located near the Renault plants in Billancourt, was heavily bombed during World War II and had many buildings rebuilt in the 1950s and 1960s.

Must-see sites in Porte de Saint-Cloud

The Eglise Sainte-Jeanne-de-Chantal was designed in the byzantine style, with modest interior decoration. Not far away, the famous stadium of Parc des Princes was constructed in the 1970s, in an architectural style that was innovative for its time. In terms of parks, Place de la Porte de Saint-Cloud, the 32,000 square foot plaza is perfect for a pleasant break. On the edge of the district, near Porte d'Auteuil, the Jardin des Serres d’Auteuil has botanical collections, an informal landscape garden, a Japanese garden, and lush tropical plants inside 19th century greenhouses.

A magical place for a walk

Useful information about the Porte de Saint-Cloud district on Avenue de Versailles, the highly popular Marché Point du Jour is held on Tuesdays and Sunday mornings and is a great place for family gatherings. The district also has everything you need during your stay. The district is served by Porte de Saint-Cloud metro station (line 9).
