Porte de Clignancourt Apartments

Porte de Clignancourt, the district of the famous Marché aux Puces

Porte de Clignancourt is famous the world over for its flea market called “Marché aux Puces” in French. If you like bargain hunting and are planning a vacation in Paris, renting an apartment in this district is a great idea. As soon as you come out of the metro, you’ll see bargain hunters heading in masse for the stands of their dreams...

Porte de Clignancourt, a heaven for bargain hunters

Porte de Clignancourt first held a scrap metal fair in 1885, which gradually turned into a flea market. After World War I (1914-1918), the Vernaison market was created, comprising prefabricated stands leased to second-hand goods dealers. The Marché Biron and Marché Malik followed. The bourgeois classes began to frequent the place and bargain hunting became all the rage. Over the years, other sectors opened up, and Clignancourt’s Marché aux Puces became famous the world over.

The Porte de Clignancourt district, the home of antique dealers

The Marché aux Puces in Clignancourt was the first antique market in the world, offering visitors both luxury antique stores and a mixture of bric-a-brac stands. Visitors from all over Paris and beyond come to seek out a bargain on the 17 acres of this giant market. A stone's throw away, Square Ginette-Neveu (Rue Ginette-Neveu and Rue Francis-de-Croisset), recently renovated and with two children's playgrounds, is perfect for a relaxing break.

Shopping in Porte de Clignancourt

A food market with mouthwatering stands is held on Tuesdays and Sunday mornings on Boulevard Ornano, between Rue Mont-Cenis and Rue Ordener. Another, just as tempting, takes place on Boulevard Ney, between Rue Jean Varenne and Rue Camille Flammarion. The neighborhoods also have little stores and typical eateries where bargain hunters can eat their fill. The district is served by Porte de Clignancourt metro station (line 4). If you are looking for an apartment to rent in Paris, we offer a wide range of rentals in the Porte de Clignancourt area.
