In 1791, the Abbaye de Saint-Antoine became a hospital as an acknowledgment of the residents' commitment to overthrowing the monarchy. On Rue de Charenton, you can see the classical facade of another hospital founded by Saint-Louis. To the northeast, Place de la Bastille and the Colonne de Juillet (July Column) serve as a reminder of the area's significance in French history. Opposite, Place de la Nation is an equally impressive tribute. Don’t miss Square Trousseau and the Fontaine de Charonne (Trogneux)!
