A family neighborhood to the northeast of Paris

The Crimée district, also known as Flandres, lies between Rue d'Aubervilliers, Rue de l'Ourcq, Avenue de Flandre, and Boulevard de la Villette. On one side, there are streets with nothing but Haussmann-style buildings and, on the other, large estates constructed in the 1970s. Standing 400 feet high, the Tour Prélude is the tallest residential building in the capital. Nestled between Parc des Buttes-Chaumont to the south and the expansive Cité in La Villette to the east, the Crimée district offers a range of things to do.

Where history meets modernity

Vestiges of the 18th century Rue de Crimée, which runs through the district, is more than 1.5 miles long. It crosses the Canal de l'Ourcq on the Flandre lift bridge. Built in 1885, it is now the last of its kind in Paris. Still in operation, it opens and closes almost 9,000 times a year. A fixed walkway allows pedestrians to cross the canal. Still on Rue de Crimée at number 83 is one of the oldest bakeries in Paris. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, it still has every bit of its old charm: its facade is covered with white earthenware and sculpted wood.

The perfect place for a rainy day

There are all kinds of businesses, particularly along Avenue de Flandre: general stores, cafés, discount stores, banking services, pharmacies, bookshops, libraries, etc. It is an exceptional choice for lunch, brunch or a snack. Further up, Avenue de Flandre is known for its many discount stores with goods at amazing prices! The Crimée district is accessible via the Crimée and Ricquet stations, both served by metro line 7.
