From Boulevard Vincent-Auriol to Rue de Tolbiac, the district has recently had a face lift and allows you to see another side of Paris, far from the Haussmann-style buildings and the monuments. The main road ,Rue de Tolbiac, leads to both Bercy, on the other side of the Seine, and one of Paris’s Chinatowns — two very different atmospheres, which contrast with the peace and quiet of Tolbiac.

One of the flagship monuments is the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand, also known as BNF. There are millions of items available to the general public, as part of visits or special exhibitions. A walk in Parc des Grands Moulins, which takes its name from the former factory next door, allows you to relax in a contemporary setting with its three acres of green space. A few hundred yards away, the Manufacture des Gobelins, founded in 1601 was once a tapestry factory. Open to the public since 2007, this site puts on amazing exhibitions in a building steeped in history.
