The Sacré-Coeur, one of the most touristy districts in Paris
The unmissable Butte Montmartre is home to the Sacré-Coeur. Run by the Benedictines, the Sacré-Coeur Basilica has a tiny piece of land planted with grapes. Every year, at harvest time, the neighborhood organizes the Fête des Vendanges. Not far from the vineyard stands the former house of Dalida, just before the legendary Lapin Agile cabaret. Thanks to its perfect exposure and light available, Montmartre attracted many artists, such as Cézanne, Wlaminck, Renoir, Degas, Braque, and Picasso, to mention but a few.
Immeasurable cultural wealth
Between the little stores and the famous Moulin lies Place des Abbesses. Bursting with restaurants, it reflects a very specific atmosphere, a secret to which only the Sacré-Coeur district is privy. Then you have Place Pigalle: in the 19th century, impressionist painters would go to the market and hang around the fountain looking for their models. Today the cabarets have made way for erotic establishments, attracting tourists by the drove. In particular, you have the famous Moulin Rouge and the Musée de l'Érotisme.
This legendary place is easy to get to
Several metro lines terminate near the Sacré-Coeur and the Butte Montmartre and a cable car also runs to the Sacré-Coeur, making it accessible to all despite the many hills. There are plenty of food stores, souvenir stores, creperies and restaurants which have retained the essence of Parisien culture. Rue Lepic is the perfect illustration of this village spirit.
