Latin Quarter/Saint-Michel: the stronghold of students and Parisian artists
Stay in a seasonal rental in Paris, particularly in this district, and meet the Parisian student youth, exchange ideas, philosophize in the Palais du Luxembourg, admire the magnificent monuments, centers for knowledge and, for some, symbols of French artistic creation. Paris's authentic student area situated on the left bank of the Seine, the Latin Quarter has the Sorbonne at its historic center. Due to the many universities located in this district, it is mainly frequented by teachers and students. The streets vibrate with excitement, and it is in this intellectual part of Paris that you will discover the city’s soul. It is here that Sartre supported the student movements during the events of 1968. Previously, jazz found its home here with Boris Vian. There are still a few places dedicated to jazz today, such as Le Caveau de la Huchette. Although there are many churches in the district, there is one that might stand out from the rest: the Eglise Saint Sulpice where The Da Vinci Code was filmed. Cultural or gourmet stops whenever you like! The first curiosity to discover are the remains of the baths and theaters built by the Romans, such as those at the Musée de Cluny and the Arènes de Lutèce. On the Sainte-Geneviève mountain stands the Eglise Sainte-Geneviève built in the Middle Ages and the Panthéon, which houses the tombs of the "greats" who served France. Going back down, you reach the Palais du Luxembourg where you can admire the splendid park and the Fontaine de Médicis. Head towards the Seine, taking a brief detour to the Sorbonne where you can admire its interior courtyard and its observatory. Rather than walking down Boulevard Saint-Michel, head off to Rue St André des Arts and enjoy the village charms of the Marché de Buci and have a drink at "Le Procope," the oldest café in Paris. One of the trendiest districts in Paris The Latin Quarter is as lively by day as it is by night, and the terraces of the many restaurants, cafés, and bars will welcome you in and make you feel right at home. Whether by metro, bus, or bike, it's very easy to get around. There's no doubt you will enjoy staying in Paris's Latin Quarter, where we offer a selection of apartments to rent.
