Strasbourg Saint Denis, a home base for your visit A working class, commercial district, Strasbourg Saint Denis is not actually a cultural site. However, it does have the advantage of being fairly central, making it easy to get to the adjoining districts of the Grands Boulevards, Châtelet les Halles, Gare de l’Est, Gare du Nord, and even Opéra. Things to see in Strasbourg Saint Denis include the Rex, a legendary movie theater. Constructed in 1931, the oldest movie theater in Paris is also the most spectacular with 3,300 seats. Rue du Faubourg Saint Denis, a former royal route, is also home to Porte Saint Denis, constructed in 1672 to celebrate the victories of Louis XIV. At Saint-Denis – Porte de Paris metro station, you can also discover the two triumphal arches dating back to 1670.
