Don’t pass up a chance to stay in one of the most emblematic districts of Paris! The excitement of the Champs-Élysées The famous Avenue des Champs-Élysées connects Place de la Concorde, where the majestic obelisk has pride of place, to the Arc de Triomphe in Place Charles-de-Gaulle. It is the main historic road in the west of Paris with gardens almost half a mile long and a quarter of a mile wide. These gardens are crisscrossed by paths and adorned with beautiful fountains. This broad avenue, with large sidewalks and gardens running alongside, is a popular spot for walking and hanging out, both in the summer and winter. Passers-by of all ages and nationalities spend time here every year. The famous song "Les Champs-Élysées" by Joe Dassin gives a good description of the particularly jovial and romantic atmosphere that reigns over this legendary avenue. Whether at midday or midnight, Paris's most beautiful avenue is always bustling with life! An avenue dedicated to recreation The Avenue des Champs-Élysées is as famous for its designer stores (Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Guerlain, etc.) as it is for its working class atmosphere. The shops at the top of the avenue don't close until 10 or 11 o'clock! The top part of the avenue is dedicated to businesses and leisure venues. The world-famous erotic cabaret, Le Lido, and Le Fouquet's, one of the most famous restaurants in Paris, can be found there. Every year, the Champs-Élysées plays host to many events and demonstrations. In the summer, it marks the arrival of the Tour de France and welcomes the July 14th military parade. During the Christmas season, a crafts market is set up in the south part. Last but not least, on December 31st, to celebrate the arrival of the new year, the avenue is closed off to traffic and exclusively reserved for pedestrians. An easy-to-access avenue From south to north, the Champs-Élysées is served by the following metro stations: Concorde (lines 1, 8, and 12), Champs-Élysées-Clémenceau (lines 1 and 13), Franklin D. Roosevelt (lines 1 and 9), George V (line 1) and Charles de Gaulle-Étoile (lines 1, 2, 6, and RER A). Grocery stores and local stores are generally hidden away in the streets running perpendicular to the avenue.
